FAQ
Do you accept Total Mobility?
We know there’s demand and are keen to meet it. Local Councils manage Total Mobility, so we need to work with each one individually. It’s a process, but we’re on it.
Can I pre-book a taxi?
Yes! You can schedule your ride in advance so there’s no last-minute stress. Just enter your pick-up location (it doesn’t have to be your current one) and set the time. Learn more
Do you have multi-stop functionality?
Not yet, but you can let your driver know where to stop. Additional stops and waiting times will be automatically calculated.
Who owns YourRide?
We’re 100% Kiwi-owned and operated. Many of our drivers have a stake in YourRide, so they genuinely care about your ride—because it’s their business too.
Are taxis safe?
Absolutely. Every YourRide taxi has security cameras, giving you and your team peace of mind—day and night.
What payment types do you accept?
You can pay with Debit and Credit Cards, TaxiCharge Cards, and Digital Vouchers.
How does the app work at airports?
YourRide taxis usually pick up right from the terminal—no long walks or guesswork.
- At Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch airports, you don’t need to wait for a driver to accept your request. Just hop into a YourRide-branded taxi, open the app, and request a ride.
- The app will ask for the driver’s unique ID (which they’ll provide), and you’re good to go!
Which cities is YourRide in?
We operate in over 15 cities, from Whangārei to Invercargill. See Locations.
Do you do surge pricing?
No. While some of our partners may adjust fares in the evenings to ensure enough drivers are available, we don’t do the extreme surge pricing you’ve probably experienced on rideshare apps.
How is YourRide different from rideshare apps?
We’re not a rideshare—we’re a professional taxi service with a personal touch. Here’s why we stand out:
✅ No surge pricing – Fares stay fair. Our taxi partners charge charge per km and minute.
✅ TaxiCharge integration – Centralised payments, no need for every employee to have a company card.
✅ Locally owned & operated – Your money stays in New Zealand, supporting local businesses.
✅ Real taxis, real professionals – Fully licensed, vetted drivers who know the roads inside out.
How do Digital Vouchers work?
Digital Vouchers let staff travel without needing to pay upfront.
- How it works: Admins set up and share a voucher directly with the user.
- No hassle: The voucher is automatically added to the YourRide app. N.B. please ensure you select the voucher for payment before booking a trip.
N.B. The recipient must add a backup payment card before using the voucher.
Why is there a charge on my card before I’ve taken a trip?
We place a temporary hold on your credit card based on the trip estimate to verify it’s valid. This is a routine process, especially for new passengers or first-time users.
Banks process these holds differently—some update your balance instantly, while others take until your next statement. If in doubt, check with your bank.
